Photography, videography or both?
Photography is the must have, if you have to choose only one than photography is what you choose. There is something special and tangible about looking back on your photos, something that the progression of time only seems to enhance. It is the ability relive a memory and bring back the emotion and feeling of that moment, unclouded and real at a glance.
With the way we share and connect with our families and friends in our modern world, video has become a stronger voice in that connection. Highlight videos offer a way to compress and share our big days with the ones we love in a format that we can all enjoy. With small snippets of time stitched together to tell your story, some things can only be shown and felt in motion and sound.
While more and more of our couples are choosing both, it is up to individuals to decide what has more meaning for them.
We have a long personal history with Shangri-La Yanuca Island, if you want to find out a little more about it check out our blog post by our Lead Photographer Laurence with a few tips on how to get the most out of your Shangri-La Wedding.
Time. When developing our packages we needed to first decide on how much coverage we would need to be able to tell as close to a complete story as possible. After years of experience and tweaking we finally settled on two hours. Two hours is the smallest amount of time we would need with a couple to be able to tell a full story therefore our packages start with a base of two hours with the ability to add more time to suit.
The base of 2 hours is generally perfect for elopements and small weddings with 1-10 guests. If timed well we can cover the ceremony, some family & guest photos and then a quick couple portrait session after.
A typical choice for coverage would begin with:
4:00pm - Ceremony
4:20pm - Family & Guests group photos
4:30pm - Couple Portraits
6:00pm - Sunset/End
Great for when you want to include some coverage of bridal and/or groom prep or ‘Getting Ready’ photos or capture the beginning of your wedding reception.

One thing to note about the typical coverage times we have provided above is our intense love for sunset photos. We have by far the best sunsets in the world (in our humble opinion) so don’t be surprised if we drag you away a few minutes before sunset no matter what you happen to be doing. Throughout the year sunset times vary from around 5:40pm in July to 6:50pm in December (add an hour around Christmas for DST if it happens)
With Photography we find that we tend to deliver an average of between approximately 60 to 100 photos for every hour of coverage we shoot. So if you were to book 4 hours of coverage you could expect between 240 and 400 or so final photos delivered. All the files will be gently edited to our style with a few duplicates made for black & white conversions.
All photos are delivered via a password protected online gallery for easy viewing, sharing and downloading.
For video we deliver a 2-5 minute Highlights video in HD which is edited to commercially licensed music as well as long play videos of the ceremony and any other formalities we cover. All videos are delivered through a online gallery for easy viewing, sharing and downloading.
Allow around 3 to 8 weeks for the final delivery of photos and 4 to 12 weeks for video.
